Song Lyrics

So Sorry

So sorry, my dear.  We’re so sorry, so sorry my dear.

John, Paul and George got into a fight.

Ringo played the drums, but the rhythm wasn’t right.

John could not be reached, he was living underground.

So, Paul continued singing this refrain on his own.

We’re so sorry, Uncle Albert, we haven’t done a bloody thing all day.

George wrote a song about the way to be happy.

Ringo wrote on too, you know it didn’t come easy.

John released Imagine, after that nothing mo

And Paul took to the Wings with people knocking on his door.

Someone’s knocking on the door, somebody’s ringing the bell.

We’re so sorry, Uncle Albert, we haven’t done a bloody thing all day.

George still played guitar.

Ringo still wore rings.

Paul no longer sang with the band that he called Wings.

Ringo made some movies, his parts were always light.

John could not be reached, a bullet took his life.

We’re so sorry, Uncle Albert, we haven’t done a bloody thing all year.

We’re so sorry, Uncle Albert, cause we’re missing someone very, very dear.

Can’t Take Anymore

Living alone in the city, it’s a wonder that I’m still alive.

My friends all seem numb from their pity, I don’t know how we all survive.

I walked out the door, the ambulance pulled up, I asked who’s it for, it’s for ME!

I can’t take anymore, I can’t take anymore.

My paycheck is no longer for me, with the bill collectors waiting in line.

Each creditor hears a new story and I try to keep my credit alive.

I thought about ending it, throw in the towel, but you know I wouldn’t fit down the drain.

I can’t take anymore, I can’t take anymore.

It’s all a dream, my life is crashing down all around me.

I’ve made up my mind not to lose site of what life is for, I can’t take anymore.

Give me some cash; give me money, anything to help me survive.

Playing these clubs pays no money, but it’s better than the job I can’t find

I don’t know where I’ll go or if it’s worth my while to be a singer with a college degree.

I can’t take anymore, I can’t take anymore.

Blues Can’t Get You No More

You don’t have to be sad, but you don’t have to be glad.

You don’t have to get real mad, to keep from being had.

And you don’t have to be cool; you don’t have to go to school.

You don’t have to follow no rules.  You don’t have to feel misused

because the:

Blues can’t get you no more.  The blues can’t get you no more.  Pretty baby, that the blues can’t get you, the blues can’t get you the blues can’t get you no more.

Your don’t have to be strong, to know what’s going on.

And you don’t have to be reborn to feel like you belong.

All you have to be is you.  In everything you’re going to do.

All you have to be is you to your own self you’ve got to be true.

And then the:

Blues can’t get you no more.  The blues can’t get you no more.  I said that the blues can’t get you, the blues can’t get you, the blues can’t get you no more.

You can wrinkle your nose, or you can look out your window.  You can watch your love grow.  And you’ll see, you’ll see, you will see what I mean…

But your a little too sad (oh no), you’re a little too small (oh no), don’t you like it like that, don’t you like it at all.  And does it hurt you.  Can’t they hurt you now, cause you’re a little too fat, you’re a little too old, you’re a little to young, and you’re a little to bold.   Well it ain’t going to get me, it’s not going to bring me down, because the:

Blues can’t get you no more.  The blues can’t get you no more.  I said that the blues can’t get you, the blues can’t get you, the blues can’t get you no more.

Now there’s nothing to deny, no need for alibis and you don’t need to tell no lies for everything to work out fine.  All you have to be is you, in everything you’re going to do. All you have to be, all you have to be, all you have to be is you.  And then the

Blues can’t get you no more, the blues can’t get you no more, pretty baby the blues can’t get you the blues can’t get you the blues can’t get you no more.

Broker’s Song

Round and round and round you go and where you stop.

You see yourself above the rest, where money feeds your game.

You’d sell your soul for somewhat less if the proper price were named.

And, whoa, don’t you know that you’re running me off of the road.  Whoa, don’t you know that you’re running me off, you’re running me off.

When I grow old, will you come see me sometime, when I grow old, will you come, will you come, will you come, will you come.  You’re running me off of the road oh don’t you know you’re running me off you’re running me off.

You see yourself among the best where money buys you fame.

Each day this world grows more depressed you’ll squander just the same.

And, don’t you know that you’re running me off the road.  Whoa, don’t you know that you’re running me off, you’re running me off.

When I grow old will you come see me sometime, when I grow old will you come, will you come, will you come, will you come.  You’re running me off the road, oh, don’t you know you’re running me off, you’re running me off, you’re running me off the road.

CHICAGO

Those who see this city’s skyline, from the lakeshore, from the street,

See a city ever changing, never banking on defeat.

When this city fell to ashes, mighty water tower stood.

On cindered ground, they built downtown, used bricks instead of wood.

And they praised you, Chicago, mighty crossroads east and west.

Though you were not all they hoped you’d be, you’re a town that would not rest.

And the immigrants, like pilgrims, from the south, from distant lands,

Chose to settle in your townships worked the mills and vending stands.

From Maxwell street to Dearborn, from the Stockyards to LaSalle.

They built up family business, finding fortune for themselves.

And they praised you, Chicago, mighty crossroads east and west.

Though you were not all they’d hoped you’d be, you still gave them food and rest.

You are DuSable, Field Museum, Wrigley Field and DePaul.

You are the “City of Big Shoulders” that has always shouldered more.

We share pride in your museums, build our futures on your past.

You are the beating heart of commerce paced by rhythm, blues and jazz.

And we praise you now, Chicago, mighty crossroads east and west

You are more than just a home to me; you’re the pride of the Midwest.

And we praise you now, Chicago, mighty crossroads east and west.

Though you were not all we’d hoped you’d be, you still tower ’bove the rest.

 Oh No

Take a look out your window, babe, from any part of town

Just look out of your window it’s enough to bring you down

We’ve got families that are homeless, and so many working poor (po).

And the wealthy, don’t like taxes, no, all they want is more (mo).

.

But you know you just can’t sing the blues when you ain’t got nothin to lose

You just can’t sing the blues when you ain’t got nothin to lose.

Well they’re rolling off the line in Detroit City with no place left to go

And everyone is running out of money, credit debt is set to blow

But they’re swinging down in Washington; they’re trying to set the style

They don’t pass legislation, no, all they do is smile.

Don’t you think those CEO’s know the score.

If the dollar is green or the dollar is blue, you can’t keep a job when the factories move.

Oh no, oh no, oh no, oh no, oh no, oh no, oh no, oh no.

Take a look out your window while you’re driving through your town

Just look out of your window it’s enough to make you frown

There’s a drag strip on the highway, lonely shoppers at the mall

And the subway riders warn me with their writing on the wall,

When they say:  “You just can’t sing the blues when you ain’t got nothin to lose.”

You just can’t sing the blues when you ain’t got nothin to lose.

Only a Man

Only a man and nothing much more.  Only a man, but he stood on the edge of much more.

He challenged this country to act on what it believed.  He rallied this nation to counter the ethics of greed.

Yellow leaves fell on that dark limousine.  And, even now I can hear the sounds and the screams.

The shot that struck his skull took his life.  For many long years it tore this country apart like a knife.

Remember the day we all had tears in our eyes.

Remember the day when our country fell far behind.

I’ve struggled in so many ways for the way to be free.

I see that struggle each day in both you and me.

Have I the courage to act on what I believe?

“Courage”, he said, “to act, is what would set us all free.”

Only, only a man and nothing much more.  Only, only a man and nothing much more.

Promised Land

Take the chains off my feet, I can’t use them anymore.  Take the chains off your feet, can’t you see that there’s so much more.

The city’s tall majestic towers rise up through the clouds today.  Through clouds of soot, crusty haze, some can’t breathe the air today, but still we stay.

Living tight in the city now, pushing hard and putting out.  Demand the best, pass the test, still we stumble home with less.  Who knows what’s next.

And, people, people everywhere, running here and running there.  People were a friend of mind, till I found they had no time, had no time for me.

While cars and trucks fight it out for gasoline running out.  No train, no plane, no bus can rush to destinations fast enough.  And, deadlines met are then reset, with no time to forget.  Slow it all down, slow it all down, slow it all down, slow it all down.  This city’s pace.

And, we are in our Promised Land.  Where all we do is what we can.  Where the rich get rich, the poor just die.  Where we fail to question why.  We don’t ask why.

One man on a fateful day came to terms with life this way.  In a dirty, dark subway, vowed to change this world someday.  Someday he may.

While cars and trucks fight it out for gasoline running out.  No train, no plane, no bus can rush to destinations fast enough.  And, deadlines met are then reset, with no time to forget.  Slow it all down, slow it all down, slow it all down, slow it all down.  This city’s pace.

And, here we are in our Promised Land.  Where all we do is what we can.  Where the rich get rich, the poor just die.  Where we fail to question why.

 So Pretty to Me

You love to get attention.  You hate to be ignored.

You’re looking for affection.  That’s what you’ve come here for.

And, I know that you know I love you so, you’re just so pretty to me.

So pretty, so good now, so pretty, you’re just so pretty to me.

Pampered soft complexion.  Eyes that laugh and play.

You’re diaper changing sessions take my breath away.

And, I know that you know I love you so, you’re just so pretty to me.

So pretty, so good now, you’re just so pretty to me.

So, close your eyes, you don’t need to cry no more.

Close your eyes and dream….awhile, dream awhile.

Now you’re head is filled with questions.

You’re peeking round the door.

You’re looking for affection, that’s what your life is for.

And, I know that you know I love you so, you’re just so pretty to me.

So pretty, so good now, so pretty, you’re just so pretty to me.

So pretty, so good now, so pretty, you’re just so pretty to me.

Close your eyes, you know you’re just so pretty to me.

Don’t you cry, you know you’re just so pretty to me.

 Can’t Stop Thinking About Her

A hug, a tug, a kiss, a shrug, an experiment in two.

Do I sweep the thoughts beneath the rug, concerned now what to do?

Do I stop thinking about her?  My friends all say I should.  But, I can’t stop thinking about her and I guess I never will.

Is she all I want, does she laugh a lot?  Does she mind when I call her “girl”.  Will she play the part, will she break my heart, all the while being drawn to her.

Stop thinking about her.  My friends all say I should, but I can’t stop thinking about her and I guess I never will.   Wooo.

A hug, a kiss, somewhat amiss.  A lesson making love.  Amusing thoughts between a kiss as we fall asleep on the rug.  As we fall asleep on the rug.  We both fall asleep on the rug.

Outside In

When you’re down and out and when you’re inside out is outside in.  Makes no difference who you are or what you are supposed to be.

Sorry to see you feeling blue, hope you don’t think I’m being cruel.  Everyone thinks you’ve come unglued.  Sorry to say I think it’s true.

When you’re all alone, you’re feeling like a flop.  Don’t tell me who you know.  It doesn’t matter what you’ve got.

I’m just, sorry to see you feeling blue, hope you don’t think I’m being cruel.  Everyone thinks you’ve blown your cool.  Sorry to say I think it’s true.

When you’re down and out and when you’re inside out is outside in.   Makes no difference who you are or what you are supposed to be.

Sorry to see you.  Sorry to see you feeling blue again.

Sorry to see you.  Sorry to see you feeling blue my friend.

Sorry to see you.  Sorry to see you feeling blue again.

Sorry to see you.  Sorry to see you feeling blue my friend.

Don’t Worry 'Bout a Thing

Chorus:  Don’t worry bout a thing, don’t worry no more, I’ll be with you tonight.  Don’t worry bout a thing don’t worry no more, I’ll be holding you tight.

When you’re near me, girl you thrill me.  You send shivers down my spine.

Don’t you doubt me, when you know all about me and you know it’s love that makes things right.

Chorus:  Don’t worry bout a thing, don’t worry no more, I’ll be holding you.

And, when you touch me, it means so much to me.  One kiss can make this world seem right.

Want you near me, you can share what you fear with me, cause you know it’s love that makes things right.

Middle 8:  It’s not the way you wear your hair.  It’s not sweet things you say to me.  No, no.  It’s more the way you show you care, it’s alright, cause I’ll be with you tonight.

And, when you touch me, it means so much to me, you send shivers down my spine, woo.  Oh, girl, don’t you doubt me, when you know all about me, and you know it’s love that makes things right.

Chorus:  Don’t worry bout a thing, don’t worry no more, I’ll be with you tonight.  Don’t worry bout a thing don’t worry no more, I’ll be holding you tight.  Don’t worry bout a thing, don’t worry no more, I’ll be with you tonight.  Don’t worry bout a thing, don’t worry no more I’ll be with you, I’ll be with you, I’ll be with you tonight.  Wooo.

Thinking Of You

Time marches on and it drags by so slowly.

As time marches on, I’m feeling so lonely.

Thinking of you.  Thinking of you.

Miles in between, barriers and resistance.

Phone lines between tracing the distance, between me and you, between me and you.

Middle 8:  This world’s like a jungle.  We fight to make our way, hey hey, hey.

We tangle and tumble as we try to find our own way to go.

When I dream in the night, can you feel it, does it haunt you?

Oh, deep in the night can you feel how I want you?

Thinking of you.  Thinking of you.  Thinking of you.  Always, thinking of you.

Illinois

To the County of Calhoun my memory wanders,

Where broad Illinois cuts her path through limestone.

And the farmers will greet you, they’ll never mistreat you.

The hills hide remains of ancient man’s tombs.

Chorus:   Sweet Valley, River come take me home.

And, I’m traveling to Texas, but my heart’s in the valley.

All I can see are the dumps on the land.

On the distant horizon I can make out the tree line that meet and surround on the “River’s grasslands.

And, the River flows closer, but not at all cleaner, than when I remember seeing it last.

Oh, the rail yards are muddy, the steel mills are rusty, the sunlight is purple through a sky over cast.

Chorus:     Sweet Valley, River come take me home.

And, then, River, I see River, dirt levees appear.

Rock levees, Missouri, flood plains at their rear.

I can’t see any barges, no boats large or small; I gaze to the north at the River and walls.

Then, barges and towboats as we exit St. Louis, refurbished sternwheelers and sun on the hill.

Mississippi’s a grand one, granddaddy of all of ‘em, but not as inviting as Illinois still.

Chorus:   Sweet Valley, River come take me home.

So, I long for the gentle Illinois Valley, that Illinois Valley I call my home.

To the County of Calhoun my memory wanders, where proud Illinois cuts her path through limestone.

Chorus:  Sweet Valley, River come take me home.  Sweet Valley Illinois you’re my home.

All City Sounds

All city sounds are dying.  All of the bars have closed now.

Come home with me and hold me, so I won’t be alone.  So, I won’t be alone.

We’ll tell stories through the night, of castles and kingdoms.  And, though we may be just peasants, revolution has begun.

In all my dreams I knew you; I’d see you by your window.  You’d laugh at me do cartwheels.  I wasn’t even stoned, I wasn’t even stoned.

Together we’ll se the morning light, softly light my room.  We’ll let our hands be gentle and laugh at what they do.

All city sounds are dying; all of the bars have closed now.  Come home with me and hold me, so I won’t be alone, no I won’t be alone.

Silver Moon

Dragonfly sitting on a cattail, high, swaying in the breeze.

And, old man river’s just a rolling by and taking it down to the sea.

Maybe you’ve got the blues, but maybe it’s not too late for you to find yourself dancing ‘neath the silver moon with the stars hanging on display.

Cottontail’s hopping down the meadow’s path; he stops to eye the scene.

And, you and I pretend to be, now try not to laugh, a natural part of this scene.

Well, maybe we’ve got to lose, but maybe our heart won’t ache when you and I go dancing ‘neath the silver moon with the stars hanging on display.

Star shine, star shine.

Moon shine, moon shine.

Free as the star shine, bright as the sun.  The moonbeams light our path.

Life’s commotion’s just a distant hum when you’re far from the beaten path.

Whatever you got to lose, won’t really be all that great when you compare it to the splendor of the silver moon with the stars hanging on display.

Won’t you compare it to the splendor of the silver moon with the stars hanging on display?

Happy Together

As the night evolved, we became enthralled with the music, fun and sights.  Among friends we knew, we made rendezvous on the isle of paradise.

And, oh so happy together, what a wonderful, wonderful sight.

When the night withdrew, it left me and you alone to share our delight.

And, our friends all knew of our rendezvous, each one shared a glass of our wine.  To the maiden fair, far from Circe’s star, now fulfilled beyond hearts delight.

And, oh so happy together, what a wonderful, wonderful sight.  When the night withdrew it left me and you all alone to share our delight.

You and I, oh what a wonderful sight.  You and I, oh what a wonderful life.

Oh, sweet maiden fair, it’s for you I care will you be my lady, my wife.  Be my lady my wife.  Will you be my lady my wife ?

Follow Your Heart

You need once in your life to see all that love can be

It's all so simple and yet, sometimes hard to show, but show it

And if once in your life you see how deep your love can be

Learn to follow, follow your heart.

You can search this wide world over and still not find the peace

You're looking for,

Until you let your feelings show, never let love go and learn to

Follow, follow your heart.

You're So Good For Me

I'd like to sing this song to thank-you girl for all the things

you do for me.

And would you sing along and share with me your life and love that's

dear to me.

'Cause you're just so good for me.  You set me free.  You help me see what's

inside of me.  You're just so good for me.  You set me free.  You help

see what's alright with me.

I was running out of time.  I sat alone by the telephone.  I watched life trickle

by and I squeezed it out and I teezed it out.  But I couldn't make it flow.

(Instrumental)

I was running out of time.  I sat alone by the telephone.  I watched life

trickle by and I squeezed it out and I teezed it out.

Now I'll turn your way to cherish you and do for you what lets you be free.

No, I won't turn away or let you down or put you down or turn your love away from me.

'Cause you're just so good for me.  You set me free.  You help me see what's

inside of me.  You're just so good for me.  You set me free.  You help

see what's alright with me, alright.

There Once Was a Tree

'Way high above me there once stood a tree

It's branches were growing for all to see

and Ricky Ticky Tee just like that tree

I felt something growling inside of me.

I guess everyone has their own special tree

It's something you just grow up with

on a hot summer's day.  I'd lie in its shad

With the grass as a pillow for my head

And looking up I'd wonder as each leaf

was tossed by the breeze.

If I'd ever grow up to be as strong as that tree.

It's branches were growing for all to see

and Ricky Ticky Tee just like that tree

I felt something growling inside of me.

You see, when I was a young boy we had a

storm and it messed up the neighborhood bad.

My tree was struck by lightning while

I was in bed pulling the covers over my head

And I remember that morning sun shining

like nothing was wrong.

My tree in the front yard had its trunk burnt and torn.

It's branches were twisted for all to see

and Ricky Ticky Tee just like that tree

I felt something hurting inside of me.

But Dad knew what had to be done

"Don't tear the bark off," he said.

"We'll get some tar and paint it on.  This helps

the tree to mend."

It didn't take but just one year you know

what my Dad said was true.

It just covered its scar with a new branch of leaves.

Stood tall and grew.

It just covered its scar with a new branch of leaves.

Stood tall and grew.

It just covered its scar with a new branch of leave.

Stood tall and grew.

Taking Back My Life

I gave it to you freely thought it wasn't mine to give.

How could I give away a life I'd never learned to live.

You made it oh so easy,

You let me crawl inside you lived a life for both of us,

and all I did was hide.

Chorus:

So I'm taking back my life

I've really got to see if the love that

I've been waiting for might be here in me.

I wonder if I love you 'cause there's

more to love than need.

It's as if life were a manuscript and I'd never learned.

Chorus:

Well, I never really lived my life in a way

I could call my own and all my searching

far and wide still left me all alone.

So I gave it to you freely though it wasn't mine to give;

how could I give away a life I'd never learned to live.

Chorus-Chorus:  got to see if the love that I've been

waiting for is the love you give to me.

Sing for me, Oh, I love it when you sing for me.

Share with me. Share with me all the beauty in your melody.

Sing for me, join your song with mine in harmony.

Harmony the hidden magic of a symphony.

Don't go.  Don't you know I need you so.

When I'm feeling all alone there's no one else but you for me.

If you go it would break my heart I know.

Don't go, girl, I want you to stay here with me and,

Sing for me.  How I love it when you sing for me.

Share with me all the beauty in our harmony.

America

America proud and free

America I sing this on my knees.

Your families are crippled, your young in despair.

America you don’t seem to care.

America with bustling streets

America of amber fields of wheat.

Your alleys hide the vermin as muggers lead the sermon

On the value of life on our streets today.

But, in the summer of ‘76, people sang your praise

In all reverence I feel we’ve strayed in what we’ve made our America, America. Home of the brave, land of the free.

America this was your dream

You walked with King who urged “Let Freedom Ring.”

Now aimless, faceless crowds, you’re heroes all gunned down

You’ve turned your back on your poor and beaten down.

America this is the life

Advancing drums and bugles and fife

You can stop telling your political lies

Restore your people’s pride

When you wake up you’ll see your dream hasn’t died.

But in the summer of ’76, people sang your praise

In all reverence I feel we’ve strayed in what we’ve made our America, America.  Home of brave, land of the free,

God shed his light once more on thee.

Ballad of a Battered Child



Winter comes to seal our fate; the wind sweeps down the lane.

And locked indoors, the wind still shakes through walls no warmth remains.

I see the world through troubled eyes; I’ve seen abuse my family tries to hide.

And, people think I want their sympathy.

They fail to see the wounds, deep in me.

I grieve for what I might have been, had mom not battered me.

So many fights, were fought within, to save the child in me.

Little boy me could not believe, the torment always facing me.

And though I screamed, I cried; I suffered.

Exchanging dreams for pain endured.

I’ve seen a world of troubled eyes; I’ve seen abuse my family tries to hide.

I’ve struggled years to build a life, I smile and hide the pain.

But all alone, I nurse the wounds of a childhood filled with shame.

I’m told, “Forgive your mom, she’s not to blame.” “Forget the past; the past can’t be changed (get over it.)”

But, ‘neath these wounds, you’ll find a child who’s a survivor.  A frightened youngster, a young survivor, I’m a survivor.

We’ve seen a world of troubled eyes; we’ve seen abuse our families try to hide.

But, we are stronger than our wounds, we are survivors, we are survivors, we are survivors.  We are survivors.

I Won't Steer You Wrong

(Chorus)

I won't steer you wrong

No, I won't steer you wrong

I won't steer you I won't steer you wrong.

Baby Baby come back to me

don't you leave my heart in misery.

I need you here Baby can't you see

that this makes me cry because the hurting comes and

you know you're on my mind.

It's a feeling I just can't hide, Baby.

Don't it seem a long time?

Don't it seem a long time since you've been gone?

(Chorus)

I think I see what you were trying to say

that a love like our won't fade away.

Still I think about you everyday

I need you here because the hurting comes,

and you know you're on my mind.

It's a feeling I can't hide, Baby.

Don't it seem a long time (repeat as above)

(Chorus)

Time Enough to Care

You were born first day of summer

when we first met I knew you cared

and it was a first for me to see in me

the love I never dared to share.

You shared you'd seen the sunset

Oh, I could see you standing there

And though you wander far from me just

like a summer's breeze I still feel the

warm of how you care.

(Chorus)

Follow me always and I'll follow you there

You can share with me always and I think

we're already there I do believe

we're already there.

Oh, I still think of things I've wanted

and I think of times I've dared,

but the thought that comforts me is the

thought that comes to me that they'll be time

to find the time to care.

(Chorus-guitar lead-chorus)

You may be high up on the hillside or hidden

deep within your lair -

I'll sing the song it won't be long

'til we find the time for us to care.

It's just a matter of time before we

find the time and place for use to care.

It's Alright Now

You think you swam the ocean

'cause you taste life's salty sea

And still I can't imagine how your love has entered me.

Did it fly on wings of angels?

Did it slip inside a thought?

Did it creep upon for legs and

jump like a playful ocelot?

But it's alright this morning

and it's alright right now

and it's all that I had hope it be

when your hair fell free my love.

There were those who turned away your love

determined to be unmoved but

those who turned away, my love

lost so much more than you.

And the strutting and Primadonnas

who failed to see you there

had so little there to offer you

in their somewhat vacant stare.

But it's alright this morning

and it's alright right now

and it's all that I had hope it be

when our love flowed free my love.

But still I can't imagine how your love could have no bounds

but it's love that brings salvation to the weary beaten down.

They'll be some who turn away your love

determined to be unmoved.

But it's those who turn away from love

who have the most to lose.

But it's alright this morning

and it's alright right now

and it's all that I had hope it be

how your love flows free my love.

But it's alright this morning

and it's alright right now

and it's all that I had hope it be

how our love flows free my love.

Trying to Get A Message to You

Down on my knees again, begging you

please let's straighten this whole thing out.

Why do you tease me?

Don't you know how to please me?

Don't you know what I'm talking about?

I don't know what you're talking about,

baby, you're my love.

You're saying I don't know how a woman

can feel that I always seem to mix you all up,

that you're needing some space

you need you're able to love

I don't know what you're talking about, baby, you're

my love.

(Chorus)

Trying to get a message to you (repeat)

I've been trying to get a message

trying to get a message, trying to get a message to you

because I don't know what you're talking about.

I don't know what you're talking about baby your my love.

I'm at the edge of the world, you're a mysterious girl

just tell me what this whole thing's about.

I'm at the end of the line, and I'm blowing my mind.

The only thing to do is to shout.

I don't know what you're talking about, baby,

you're my love.

(Chorus)

The Final Word - Tribute to John Lennon

I read the news today oh boy.  About the lucky man

who made the grade.  He shot him in the chest I heard

It seems to be the final word in this land where there's no direction.

Ten thousand people maybe more came to stand outside his front door.

They came to show him that they cared,

they came to show him they'd be there.

They had to stand within this man's reflection.

(Chorus)

It's alright.  It's alright though his lips will

now be still but it's so sad, so so sad.

I saw his life go flashing by on television screens

and dreams gone by.

they threw flowers at his door, combed their favorite record store,

still the world has lost one believer.

(Chorus)

We said good-bye to you that day across

the universe and far away.

Yoko said that she was proud

said she felt you there somehow,

smiling down upon all the people.

It's alright.  It's alright thought your lips will now be still,

but it's so sad, so so sad.

Goodnite, Goodnite your lips are forever

sealed and it's so sad, so sad to lose you.

Daniella

In a magical one night stand we walked alone,

She held my hand we wandered through town.

Daniella was her name.

A dark-eyed girl a bit insane.

We wandered through town.

(Chorus)

I saw her light in the night

She was so bright in the night

I held her tight.

What we said was not much more than what's been said,

many times before - I want you.

But works we spoke seem to glow a bridge between.

we let it grow our wonder wonder.

(Chorus)

But like the sunlight comes and goes she left my side,

she has to go to wander, to wander

I wonder does she feel the same?

Does she think of me and speak my name?

I wonder?  Wonder.

(Chorus)

Sometimes You Just Get By

There's times that I've been lonely now

and times I had to cry.

They say that times are good and full

when the stock exchange is high.

These times I spend making up for time

I sought to answer why.

Why I had so many times I felt I just got by.

I've seem my life drift like a cloud,

I've seen clouds pass me by.

Once I was just two feet tall,

I'm still not six feet high.

I find I take apart the things that

make me question why.

And still I can't find all the parts these

times I just get by.

Well, I wandered blinding through this world

in search but oh so blind.

I kept on finding more and more how people can be kind.

I learned how hope needs to flow into Low

we spend our time and slowly came to

understand in time I would get by.

I've learned some ways to meet my needs

I've learned to bind and tie'

to reach for things I thought I missed to love.

To grow to try.

And as the parts fit into place, I'll always questions why,

why when you're trying hard to grow

sometimes you just get by.

But, I looked up into the clouds and said one day,

I'll fly, fly so high.

Baby Come Back to Me

(Chorus)

Baby come back to me, back to me, back to me.

Pretty baby come back to me, back to me.

When I see another girl walking down the street

I'm crying there's not another girl like you

out there to meet and I'm dying.

What have you done?  I can't go on.

I'm all alone.  Baby, come home.

(Chorus)

You told me once that you'd never ever break my heart,

I'm crying and you thought that you'd never see the day we'd part.  I'm dying.

Now that you've gone, I don't belong.

I'm all alone.  Baby, come home.

(Chorus)

Got to find another girl

got to find her real soon.

I've got to find her somehow, got to find another girl,

got to find her real soon.

I've got to find her but how

It's so hard, so hard, so hard since you've gone.

It's so hard, so hard, so hard and so alone.

(Chorus)

Baby come back to me ...

I'll Be A Big Star

I'm hitting the road

God only knows

Where I'll be going

I'll be a big star, I'll be a big star someday.

People I'm told are saying I'll fold

they don't know nothing

I'll be a big star, I'll be a big star someday.

Where do you go?  When you've got noth---ing

Living on dreams, planning and schemes,

It doesn't mean nothing.

Do do do do do do, Do do do do do do, Do do do do do do,

Do do do do do do,

DIT DIT DIT DIT DIT ETC.

When do you know when you've got something

Kids in the street are digging the beat,

They gotta to know something

This world is so cold

You could sell out your soul and still you'd get noth---ing but,

I'll be a big star, I'll be a big star someday.

I'll be a big star, I'll be a big star someday.
