                  To Professionals          (8-10-09)

In this site, I have encouraged lay-persons to educate themselves about this terrible disorder.  I am also aware of the stigma and prejudices that come with treating Borderlines in your caseloads.  Borderlines are a handful, and it is not self-affirming nor gratifying work, I am sure.

We need more DBT-certified and trained professionals to handle all of the undiagnosed BPD's that are still out on the streets destroying marriages, breaking up homes, cutting themselves, immersed in addiction, stalking people, manipulating friends, disrupting work environments, and dragging down and draining those in society who even remotely deal with them

Please consider learning more about this disorder, the treatment(s) (whichever one you wish to explore), and lend a helping hand to give some Borderline clients a chance at a life of reduced stress and regulated emotions.

People like me have benefitted from professionals who led me to a more skilled life when it came to my behaviors.  As more people come to know of the disorder, BPD is going to be the diagnosis given to more clients.  I just hope that there will be an adequate number of professionals equipped to treat them.

Following are comments I got off a website (BPDTodayDBPSupport) about newly diagnosed Borderlines who did not have a DBT outlet for professional help within a couple of hours driving time:

Hi, my name is Renee and my story is very similar to yours. I am 46 years old and have been struggling with depression for over 25 years. It was not until a recent hospital stay that I was diagnosed with Borderline
Personality Disorder.  I, too, am struggling with finding and affording Dialectic Behavior therapy treatment. The closest for me is about 2 hours away.  So, I am looking for some sort of support for me as well.

Thanks,  Renee

I have just been diagnosed with bpd after being seen only as a depressive for the last 40 years! It explains so much, and I am so glad to be finding all these sites. I live in a tiny town in northern az. and am looking for a therapist/facility that practices the dialectic therapy. The nearest big city to me is Phoenix, but there is also Fountain Hills, Mesa, Chandler, and Tempe, all of which are about 2 hours away. Any referrals available? I am so excited to enter all these
bpd chatrooms and share what I thought of 'til recently as "my emotional weirdness". I would love to communicate with the lady who started this whole site... it is amazing. God bless all of us who struggle with this
disorder. Thanks.
